Andrew,
Vtiger 6 with the new MVC model driven architecture makes it easy to
switch UI by customizing the template files, or creating new templates.
New Themes are even more easier (You can change colors by changing 2
values in a CSS file).
Joe, i am surprised by your comments on Vtiger6. You seem to be
chastising Vtiger6 for being a better platform for developers, compared
to Vtiger 5.4.
1. Vtiger6 is based on the same PHP framework as Vtiger 5.4, but with
better separation of UI and Data handling code (MVC).
2. Vtiger6 supports the same Webservice APIs of 5.4 and extends them
further
3. To make client side development easier, Vtiger6 has a new frontend
built on (very) popular frameworks (Bootstrap, JQuery)
4. Vtiger 6 Developer Resources are available at
community.vtiger.com/help <http://community.vtiger.com/help>
5. We have thousands of businesses using the Vtiger6 of over a year,
and we have a large suite of automated test cases, which we continue
to expand.
We welcome any feedback that would help in making Vtiger6 a better
platform. We are committed to improve the developer experience and will
continue to roll out tutorials, examples, in the coming weeks.
Regards,
Sreenivas

If vtiger CRM 5.4 works on Synology, then coreBOS works, it

Hello Joe,
I understand your point. The only issue here is that I am on
a Synology. I
could potentially install most software in there but at the
end they
wouldn't be integrated within the system and other related
problems would
also arise by doing so. Synology only proposed a handful of
CRM solutions
within their package center, namely SugarCRM, OpenERP and
VtigerCRM. Tried
the 2 first, nearly got a heart attack. Vtiger was my last
go. It worked
somehow ok, but yes I agree I feel I am spending more time
than I should
making it work as it actually should. I understand this is a
community based
software, still I believe code testing is pretty lax here.
Even looking at
the Readme file of vtiger6.1, it still refers to "vtiger CRM
4.2 Patch 2 Sep
15, 2005" Sigh...
I am by no means a programmer but I know very well how to
goole, and fiddle
to a certain extent the code to fit my basic needs. Right
now vtiger6.0 is
looking like it will be a big NO NO for me. Already found
4/5 bugs which I
am not willing to spend time repairing. Simply not my job.
I will have a look at those you mentioned though. Always
good to know what
they are worth.
