[Vtigercrm-developers] Promotional Banner in Vtiger 6.1 Home page

Hi,

With 6.1, you will be seeing a promotional banner on the home page. We plan
to use this space to promote marketplace extensions (3rd party and
official), and conduct CRM related surveys. I included a few such banners
below. Extension developers have the option to upload the banner when
publishing to the marketplace.

I tried to answer the the key questions that you might have.

*People hate ads, Why are you doing it? *
The Promotions go hand in hand with the Marketplace, in our initiative to
make Open source more valuable for our business as well as developers, and
clients
We intend to:

   - Promote new extensions and Suggest useful extensions to users
   - Gather feedback on making CRM better.
   - Promote Cloud edition benefits

*How can i get rid of the banner? *
If you are a developer and want to disable the banner completely, you can
do so with a DB entry change. We'll provide the instructions for it shortly.

*Can users close the banner? *
Users can close the promotion with 1 click. It will only reopen when there
is a new promotion. New promotions will be at least a week apart.

*What 3rd party extensions will be promoted?*
We intend to rotate different extension banners over time.
