Trying to extend the Sugar->4.2.3 -> wherever upgrade
strategy to include Sugar 4.5: Good ideas, but many
problems...maybe someone can finish this, then we'd
have the first working demo of the "hub and spoke
conversion process". Anything we can bend into a
4.2.3 configuration can be ported, is the idea...

Found downgrade scripts in
http://www.sugarcrm.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15920

Copied 4.5.0d database to sug4542

Ran downgrade script

Ran Latin script, after deleting lines for resources
and meeting_resources

point 4.2beta install to new database....got errors
"4.2.0files can only be used with a 4.2.0beta
database"

Looks like I will have to install Sugar 4.2 clean,
because I patched through that level.

===================================

4.2.3 install sequence from vtiger_CRM_4_2_3.tar.gz

will not work on HostGator phpsuexec
servers...permissions can not be relaxed as stated in
the set up guide.

Also had problems under DirectAdmin, had to unzip via
SSH, and owner became my user, so apache user can't
edit, etc.

Bottom 3 boxes in Database Configuration are greyed
out, in both of these failed installs, and I don't
know a workaround.

I would actually love to be able to do this, but am
unable to on my two primary hosting accounts.
Luckily, I have a third, but it's too late in the day
for that.

Sorry, I wanted to provide a nice surprise bonus for
this conversion approach.

AND, somebody, don't forget to open Conversions as a
folder on the Forge, with specific conversions
underneath....ACT, Sugar4.0, Sugar4.2, Sugar4.5, etc.,
we need to make this easier for switchers.

Thanks for letting me play,
Ken
