[Vtigercrm-developers] What is the intended use of "from URL" document upload?

There is a bug – the Download Type is still set to ‘Internal’ (see your last screenshot) – if you change this to ‘External’ (which it should be by default when selecting From File URL, then it becomes a link to the external document.
It doesn’t upload the file contents – this would be used for external files e.g. Google Drive files , or OneDrive , that are shared.

Or at least that’s what we use it for!

Hi everyone,

When you want to create a document in Vtiger, you have 3 options:
1) "To Vtiger"
2) "From File URL"
3) "Create New Document":

When using "From File Url" only the url string is saved in the document record:

[cid:image002.png at 01DA1B92.E52ABF10]

But the preview and download functions do not work.

Is that how it is supposed to work? Am I doing something wrong?
