Even if the user has set their Calendar Sharing?

We have just come across this with a newly migrated system to 6.1.0.

A user tries to open a link from a list of Activities related to an 
Account and he sees the dreaded

"Permission denied - Go Back" message.

The person who created and is the assigned user for that Task has set 
her Calendar sharing to include the other user.

Has this functionality changed between 5.4.0 and 6.1.0?

Note: It would be much better for the user to not even see these Tasks 
in the Activity Related List (or search results) if they are not 
supposed to see them!!!
