[Vtigercrm-developers] A note on Role based picklists in

Hi Vikas,

that are very bad news! The rolebased picklist values are a great feature
for bigger companies who have different divisions or/and branches.
Since this is the case for some of my customers, this is a serious problem,
because the existing vtiger installations cannot be easily upgraded.
In this case, we have to find workaround or another solution for them.

It's general a bad idea to decide to drop the support of existing features,
because of the above reason (upgrade compatibility) and also the fact, that
if you are doing so, it's hard to look ahead for system integrators as well
as customers what's the next feature you propose to kill.
I think it would be the better way, to find a proper solution for the
implementation and not to kill existing and very useful features.

So, from my perspective a clear vote to keep this functionality! It's one of
the extended features of vtiger that other CRM systems didn't offer.

Kind regards,
Wolfgang

Someone added files to SVN (/vtigercrm/branches/6.0.0/) badly updated files
to vtiger 6.0.0 (revision 13858 of 03/20/2013) in /vtigercrm/branches/6.0.0/
created another directory /6.0.0 is the way it should be? *Rather than
update the system files just added a new
directory!!!*
I do not think anyone think what he is doing, he added configuration files
from SVN *(authz, passwd, svnserve.conf)*
*
*
*How this system is to work properly as someone making such mistakes?* *I
wonder how many there is still such mistakes?*

Vtiger Team please check the added files in SVN!!!

Hi,

In Vtiger 6, we have dropped the support for role based picklists. This
feature was rarely used, but due to it, usability and performance suffered
(Alan's email "Performance Tweaking?" below discusses the performance
impact). As improving usability was the primary focus for Vtiger6, this is
one feature, which we felt had to go. Administrators can still create and
edit picklists but all choices in the picklists will be visible to all
members who have access to the field (field level access is controlled via
profile).

Here are the results of changing 45 of the picklists from 15 to 16 in
