[Vtigercrm-developers] Linux dev environment & symlinks

Hi all,

on my local machine I run Eclipse.

I'm working on some new custom modules for a customer and am trying to 
do have a symlink from the modules directory to my local 
~/workspace/modulename directory, e.g.

lrwxrwxrwx 1 root     root       49 2012-04-24 08:45 Alerts -> 
/home/alord/workspace/CustomerProject/Alerts/modules/Alerts

But if I do this, I always get the dreaded "Sorry! Attempt to access 
restricted file." message.

But if I *copy* the module directory from my workspace to the /modules 
dir. then my custom module works OK.

I tried setting various permissions on my local files such as 
alord:www-data (or www-data:alord and even www-data:www-data) with 
rw-rw-r on files and rwxrwx-r-x on directories but the symlinks still do 
not work.

My localhost's webserver has FollowSYmlinks set.


I'm sure others must have had this problem before...

Any suggestions?
