[Vtigercrm-developers] Adding a second "user" field?

Has anyone ever managed to "fix" this?
I need a user-selectable field so a user can choose another user. This
field is not the Assigned To, it means something completely different.
I know from experience, that adding a second UIType 53 breaks list
sorting and reports.
A UIType 52 is nearly OK but can't be used by non-admin users and in
reports the data is shown as the user's id not the first_name + last_name.
TIA
