[Vtigercrm-developers] Cannot save '<' character in text fields correctly

If you try and save the '<' character in a Text or TextArea field then the
string gets truncated after the '<' character
e.g. if you try to save 'blah<blah' it will only save 'blah'
If you try and save 'blah< blah' (with a space after the < character) then
it will save correctly.

Clients are losing large chunks of text in records without realising until
much later due to it not saving correctly.

I raised this as an issue on code.vtiger.com (
https://code.vtiger.com/vtiger/vtigercrm/issues/1324) but wondered if
anyone had a quick solution for it?
