Yes, unit testing means automated tests. There's a tool named "PHP Unit".
The idea is that you create your tests as you either introduce new features
or repair bugs. Ideally all your code should be covered by unit tests. And
of course it takes time to create the tests, but it pays off as it gets
easier to spot bugs and as you are able to introduce new features that
don't fail any of the existing tests.

But my question is still, why don't we have unit tests in vtiger open
source?
