Email and HTML is a total mess.
Ever since Microsoft, back in the day - in their infinite wisdom,
replaced the HTML rendering engine in Outlook from the same one used by
Internet Explorer to the one used in MS Word (which is still terrible)
it's been a dog's dinner.
In reality there is a limited subset of CSS and HTML markup that can be
reliably supported in an email that could go to anyone.
