Doug:
I don't think you are testing Suite CRM if you're saying all this.
Version 7.7 is as stable as Vtiger 6.0. A ton of errors, underdeveloped
appearance. It's enough to look at their promotional video for 7.7 and
you can easily see that they are far behind Vtiger as far as appearance
and stability are concerned. When you launch 7.7 the number of errors is
breathtaking.

Suite CRM's pros:
1. They do introduce changes [Vtiger doesn't do that at all] - yet still
slower than YetiForce.
2. More buit-in functionalities than Vtiger has [especially the tool to
build modules].

Suite CRM's cons:
1. Unstable.
2. Numerous code errors [fewer than in Vtiger, but still too many] as
well as Github errors [almost 500 open issues]. The worst part is that
more issues are opened than they manage to close [similar situation in
Vtiger].
3. No freedom of speech whatsoever [all negative comments are deleted] -
in this case Vtiger beats them.
4. Slow when it comes to large databases [just like Vtiger].

Considering current development speed, it's just a matter of time when
SuiteCRM overtakes Vtiger as far as the number of implementations is
concerned. Luckily, we are better than Suite in all respects.

The community people have other jobs to do, some have left the project all together. I myself dropped any development on the core a while ago, before the completely broken 6.5 update, just not worth my time anymore.
