We don't share this idea. To contemplate that idea, and to make it work, we
need to make On Demand bug free. Unfortunately, On Demand has bugs too and
will have bugs in the future. So, we agree, it is a foolish thought, and
everyone can put it to rest.

We release updates to On Demand every week. That is not possible with open
source versions - we release once in 6 months. Customers don't upgrade
installations that often (i believe 30% of vtiger installations are still
probably running 4 year old versions).

At the time of freezing the open source version, we take whatever bug fixes
are available from On Demand, and merge into open source branch. 6.1 had
over 100 bug fixes. After the release, we keep committing regular updates
to the SVN repository.
