It's no longer a "Global Search". It *only* searches the field(s) that 
get copied into the label column of the crmentity table.

This is big loss of functionality. Almost every customer we have uses 
Global Search.

We did some work last year for a big client's system and integrated 
Sphinx [1] into 5.4.0 so it worked really well even on a system with > 
2m records...

Perhaps it's time to review that code and see if it's portable.
