Sorry for the self-reply, one thing I didn't do was setup cron jobs.
Where are the instructions for that for vtiger6? README.txt and
Release_Notes.html are a bit dated, and neither the LAMP install
instructions nor the vtiger6 instructions make any mention of cron.
