Hy Alan,

You haven't found all of the problems, generated by a column "active". :)
I had one client with an select box column "active". For Administrators 
the values inside these select box was shown in the user administration, 
because there is also a "active" selectbox and the default values 
"active", "inactive" was removed.
So the client couldn't deactivate users.
