<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; line-break: after-white-space;" class=""><div class="">Hi @all, this is the current status of vtiger open source , in my point of view:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">I had quite a few customers who simply ran away from vtiger open source because of the bugs and lack useful features vtiger competitors already have out of the box.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">You may think they ran away from vtiger open source to vtiger on demand, but no, because of the bad experience they don’t trust vtiger brand anymore and go to Vtiger competitors.</b></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">You may think again, we as developers, can get paid for fixing bugs and for introducing custom modules, or even module replacements, but in the long game this is plain wrong even from an economic point of view, because bugs and lack of basic features scare away very good customers, those with big deals and big ideas to implement in a crm project. </div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><div class="">Vtiger open source customers are not the same customers who buy vtiger cloud subscription, even if on <a href="http://vtiger.com" class="">vtiger.com</a> the access to opensource download is almost hidden!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Steve jobs said : <span style="caret-color: rgb(16, 16, 16); color: rgb(16, 16, 16); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">"</span><span style="caret-color: rgb(16, 16, 16); color: rgb(16, 16, 16); background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);" class="">We have to let go of this notion that for Apple to win, Microsoft has to lose." - Steve Jobs, Macworld Expo Boston keynote, 1997</span></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><b class="">I think this quote can be rewritten like this: vtiger open source doesn’t have to suck so vtiger cloud can win, because we can both win.</b></div><div class=""></div></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">This email is not just a way to complain pointlessly, the objective is to invite vtiger community and vtiger team to take action together!</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">STEP 1:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">If you, vtiger team, don’t have time to merge bug fixes, engage in conversations with vtiger community on git, review and merge new functionalities as fast as they come on git,</div><div class="">just let us do it, please.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">STEP 2:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Vtiger community please submit on git all bugs you want to get fixed, all the features you think could help develop vtiger extending modules instead of replacing vtiger modules, anything to help closing the gap between vtiger open source and its competitors.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">STEP 3:</div><div class="">vtiger community please help with development of anything set in STEP 2, if I fix something and you fix something else we both win, it’s the same for new functionalities.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">So, @all what do you think?</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><div class=""><br class=""><div class="">
