The client had this hierarchy :<br>
CEO<br>
<span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> | Finance</span><br>

<span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> | Area Manager</span><br>

Example use case: Area Manager creates a quotes which has a certain marginality. If the marginanlity is greater than 20 % the quote’s automatically approved. If it’s between 15 and 20% then the Sales Director needs to approve it. If it’s lower than 15 than Sales Director, Finance and CEO have to approve it.<br>
Assistant can create a quote for Area Manager but than he needs to approve it.<br>

To handle this I’ve created extra status (quote stage) (Approved, Awaiting Approval, Refused etc) and 4 custom pick lists, one for role (Area Manager, Sales Director, Finance, CEO) with these read only options (Awaiting Approval, Approved, Refused, No Action required). Only the CEO can change these pick list’s values, for the other it’s just a summary.<br>
<br>
So when a Sales Director receives a notification (email with link) they can review and if everything checks they change the global status to Approved. The workflow intercepts the changes and decides what is the global stage, updates the sales Director’s action.</div>
