<div dir="ltr">We have been using a database cache with vtiger for a little over a year now. Immediately after encapsulating user privileges (patch submitted as Trac 7342 [1]), we replaced the user_privileges files on disk with an ADOdb cache (patch submitted as Trac 7379 [2]). The default cache is a file cache, but you can easily configure memcache [3], or roll your own with the caching API [4].<div>

this is very bad. I never agree with this. I'm currently working in a bank project and that feature is very very useful for me. so it is very sad to hear about this. seems vtiger going to remove all the valuable features.<br>

Role-based picklists always *seemed* like a really nice feature, but I<br>
can't think of one customer that really uses it...<br>

The one issue I had with the change in 5.4.0 is the Picklist editor is a<br>
bit broken. (It works but the main page view doesn't show the picklist<br>
values, and the sequence column gets populated with picklist values so<br>
re-ordering doesn't really work. If I have time, it would be nice to<br>
have a patch for 5.4.0 that supports UIType 16 editing better but right<br>
now time is not something I have a great deal of.<br>

I think that was a nice feature, If someone using branch concept in<br>
vtiger , then that feature is very help full, since they setting<br>
up branch based on role. So they can display pick list values based<br>
on branch's.<br>
