[Vtigercrm-developers] Why is Contact last name mandatory?

Hi there,

Does anyone know why Contact last name is mandatory? Ie. is there some
workflow, relation other module or something else that is the "technical
explanation", or?

(I just think its very not user-friendly to force users to enter contacts
last name, if as an example they only know the first name right now, etc)
