Depending on the version of vtiger you have make sure you check the 
sql_modes settings for MySQL. They are much stricter in more recent 
releases and vtiger might not work properly with things such as 
STRICT_TRANS_TABLE,NO_ZERO_IN_DATE,NO_ZERO_DATE,ONLY_FULL_GROUP_BY etc...
