Perhaps we don't understand your question (I don't). try writing it 
differently - or post some code into a pastebin maybe?

I have used the JQuery auto-complete library in vtiger to work in the 
search box on a popup.

here is the main javascript function in my module's class. This calls an 
action which in turn uses a model to do the lookup and return the 
information I want...
