[Vtigercrm-developers] How to escape single quote in Vtiger Webservice

Is there a way to use a quote in a Vtiger Webservice query?
I can't seem to get this to work:
select * from Contacts where lastname='O\'Connor';
The error produced is
Request failed: QUERY_SYNTAX_ERROR
Syntax Error on line 3: token 's' Unexpected COLUMNNAME(s), expected one of:
SEMICOLON
