Thanks - it's tough getting old. And cynical ;-)

As both a businessman, and nominal 'chief' of a small open source distro
I can see both sides.

Companies want to turn a profit but don't really always understand the
full benefits that OS can bring them. vTiger, along with many projects,
are like this. Open Source is a good sales strap line. But they miss the
point that if they were MORE open they could benefit so much more, and
show a better bottom line too. It IS a tough thing to do, but perfectly
doable.

Conversely, dev led projects have their own issues. Devs love writing
code, but often forget it has to be relevant, and what their customers
want, not what they like building. You can see the myriad of Open Source
projects out there that die on their feet. The dev thinks it is great,
but no one wants it, or suggest ways it should be and the devs think
they know best and ignore them.

Cuts both ways.

Open Source DOES work. But it has to be pretty WIDE open to do so, and
it is a tricky balancing act.

Anyway, we know nothing will change round here, so we make the most of
what we can. Onwards and upwards !
