If you read the Yeti force list you'll have seen that despite best
intentions originally by Yeti, Doug is about spot on right and just said
it like it is.

There's precious little to choose between the vTiger team and the Yeti
force team. Both have their own agenda.

Both develop a system for their paying customers, and those same paying
customers are the only ones that they really listen too. By all means
contribute fixes, but you don't get any real say in anything.

The OS version is released as 'window dressing' so they can call
themselves Open Source and look good. It's a hook to the paying version,
no more and no less.

That's their prerogative of course.

And if you don't want to pay then all you can do is take what is offered
and make the best of it. It's free. If you don't like it, have a refund :-)

I do not believe that this was the real concept of Open Source, but it's
a model that a lot of companies have adopted - I know of a lot more.

The worst ones for me are the ones that load their web pages with meta
tags like 'Open Source' just to get hits even, though when you get there
the software is paid for only - vTiger and Yeti can't be accused of that
however.

Indeed, but with my cynical hat I believe that in reality his comments
are just a sales and advertising effort....

All IMHO of course.....
