[Vtigercrm-developers] Question regarding solution design

Hi everyone,

I have a design-question to ask :-)

I need to use Vtiger 6.1 for scheduling meetings/events, where i invite
users + get their confirmation if they are participating or not (so I know
how much coffee & cake to order :-)

I just need basic fields (ie fewer than default calendar-event
configuration in VT6.1). I would (eventually, does not have to be
initially) also like to be able to send out actual calendar-invites to the
users).

My question is:

1) Would you suggest that I modify the existing calendar-module (thereby
changing the code of the core platform :-/), or

2) Would you suggest that i write this module from scratch instead?

Any input / thoughts are highly appreciated!
