[Vtigercrm-developers] Cooperation

Hi,

when we started using and developing for vtiger about 3 years ago we thought this was a community driven product. Like every product also vtiger is not 100%-bug-free so we shared the bugs we found on http://trac.vtiger.com . But unfortunately it seems nobody from the core developers cared about them. We even submitted patches (like http://trac.vtiger.com/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/ticket/6674). It's now about 3 years ago we submitted that patch and nobody even commented on that bug. I simply cannot understand why the vtiger team ignores the help and feedback from the community!!!
Because of this we stopped reporting bugs and submitting patches, because it's just too time consuming and totally useless. I suspect there are many others out there in the community having the same experience and so they also don't report the bugs they've found. I'm sure that if the feedback from the community would be honored we could create a much better product all together!!! But today everyone fixes the bugs on its own and we can't  share our results :(

Our QA team has started reviewing extensions that are in the pipeline. You will hear back from us soon. I responded to other concerns below.

Paid Partnership

You do not have to be a Vtiger Partner to get your extensions published on our marketplace. As long as you are following the guidelines published (link<https://wiki.vtiger.com/index.php/Marketplace_Review_Guidelines>) on your website, your extension will be reviewed and listed on the marketplace. You can list paid as well as free extensions on the marketplace. Currently, we do not charge a listing fee for paid extensions, but we plan to apply a listing fee.

Our partner program has 2 levels

1. Resellers (Free - not listed on our website)
2. SI Partners (Paid - listed on our website)

SI Partner program is designed for companies which have in house developers (like yours) who assist clients implement CRM solutions. By being a Vtiger SI partner, the partner gets additional visibility by getting listed on our partner page. We charge the annual partnership fee for this benefit. The partner page only lists partners who are actively implementing Vtiger solutions.

Developer Documentation

Community Participation

As i listed on the previous email (Sub: Vtiger Forge), in the next 3 months, we are working on several initiatives to improve developer experience with Vtiger. These cover both in-product (APIs, design) and out-of-product (discussions, documentation) elements. In addition, we will identify a community manager in the core team to improve collaboration.

OSS PDF extension
Both PDF Maker and OSS PDF are listed on the marketplace. We leave it to the users to decide and install plugin that suits them.

PS: I just tried your demo. I failed to understand how you can export the PDF of 1 ticket (when i tried the test template, it listed all the tickets in a table). Please advise. You can email us directly to mp-support at vtiger.com<mailto:mp-support at vtiger.com>.

With all the respect, but you always have a lots of work to do. Basing on my almost two-yearly observations I can only assume that community and co-operation with them has the lowest priority for you (it is not including partnership which provides you profit)

Programmists don't need new documentation, they need just actual one, even this pdf (https://www.vtiger.com/products/crm/help/5.2.0/VtigerCRM_5.2.0_Vtlib.pdf) document would be enough, if it would be expanded and updated on time. All of your energy you spend for creating new tools and even you didn't work with documentation, you published for developers - this situation will always cause problems.

Programmists don't need new communication board, they just need answers on board actually existing. For many months on polish board was a lot of spam, which no one could deleted, and you didn't want to give us moderation permissions for that section. Actually adding new post need verification which causes that people don't write because they sometimes have to wait a few days! New board doesn't change anything, all what we need here is new way of cooperation betweend producer and user.

All of these modules have new versions, new documentations and wasn't even tested by you !!! We have over a dozen of other modules, which we don't send to you because it is pointless, even they are very important for business solutions ( warehouse module, module to exchange documents in EDIFACT format, integrations with Google Apps). Actually we have over 50 modules, and we are starting to rewrite them for SugarCRM.

We also proposed you, that we will give module OSS PDF for the community and you, if you only add if to the VTiger`s standard version. Actual version of OSSPdf is probably the most universal module, which doesn't modify core system files and have a tremendous functionalities, for example:

1. It is working with almost every standard and additional VTiger module.
2. Allows to create infinite amount of templatest.
3. Allows to automatically save created Documents, and relate them to the record.
4. Allows to generate many template at once.
5. Has Bootstrap library built-in, and we also have working version for current VTiger 6 version
6. Allows to run any special/additional function created by users/developers without modificating source files.
7. and has hundreds of other functionalities.

However you prefer to promote PDF Maker with is functionally limited, instead of make some correction in our module ( if you assume that some changes are necessary ) and give it to community. WOULDN`T IT PROVIDE BIGGER BENEFITS ?

For a few years on your Partners list was a Construction company, however we as a developing/programming company, which created more than 50 modules, couln`t become your partner because we have to pay for it? Maybe it would be worth to consider cooperation with companies, which wants to give you a part of their work for good of the community.

Nowadays we are the biggest producer of VTiger modules, and in our point of view, the co-operation between our companies is not existing, and there is nothing like community because you ignore them.
