I was bemoaning the rapid release schedule for Thunderbird here :
https://mail.mozilla.org/listinfo/tb-enterprise

I have received a reply from one of the developers as follows, the
interesting point here being the new address book. I thought it might be
relevant reading for Alan :

I am looking forward to replying to his comments about the definition of
stable :-)

Can you be more explicit as to your actual problems, or can you
reference bugs you've filed? We're working on improving many things at
the moment, having the knowledge of what is actually going wrong helps a
lot.

Would you also define stable please? That can actually mean a lot of
things to different people.

We're currently working on a new address book, we're working on the
specifications and design at the moment. One of the things we are
looking at is improving the contact providers which I expect will
include more by default and allow others to create their own add-ons.
Background information is here:
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Features/Thunderbird/Modern_Address_Book - it
isn't final and is open to comment and change.

Mark.
