Basically because when you are writing the code you don't know it is 
going to give you a warning. You think it is correct, even the tests you 
make go with no problems, but you can't foresee all the different cases 
that the code will run under and exactly what lines are going to give 
you a warning or even an error. You would have to put a suppress warning 
on almost all lines :-)

Besides, warnings are good in development to inform you of potential 
problems and places to improve. But in production they shouldn't get in 
your way.
