Hi Alan, all.

Project Team module was initially developed by Studio Synthesis for one
of its customers, and then included in the last public release of
vts-projects for vtiger 5.1

I copy and paste an email I sent some time ago to Asha (I hope she's
fine with this ;-) which explains the module idea and functionality.

Ciao,
Carlo

 > 1. What is the basic idea behind Project Team module?

1. The Basic idea is to map the Human Resources allocated to any single
projects - internal and external.

With the Project Team module we went beyond:

- the limit of the "assigned to" feature - you can specify only a single
user (ie the Project Manager, possibly) and not many users

- the limit of eventually creating a "project function" field inside the
Contact module: we want a Contact to be able to be a PM in a project,
and a Dev in a second project, ....

For a proper use of the module, both clients' contacts and internal
employees need to be mapped as Contacts.

Another way of achieving a similar result would have been to have N
uitype 10 fields in the Projects module all pointing to the Contacts
module - but this somehow breaks vtlib (and anyway it's not a perfect
solution)

2. See above: yes, we could have a n:m relations mapped through a
get_related_list call. But we still would have not been able to map
people functions on different projects

3. No. It's a sort of add-on.

4. We coded this for a German company which we helped migrate from a PM
legacy system to vtiger + customized vts-projects. The helped us with
the analysis. There's a few more companies I know are using it (<20).
It's still very fresh ;-)
