I have successfully used the "Assigned To" field in a CSV so that one 
does work, not tried the created/modified time fields though.

You might well just have a typo in the csv. Check for trailing spaces 
which I discovered MSO seems to add with abandon in Excel.

I usually use OOo Calc and use the Trim() function to strip any leading 
and trailing whitespace.
