 Default values are not applied to fields when a lead record is converted.

 As a demonstration create two custom fields in the Contacts module only.
 The fields do not exist in the Leads module.

 The first is a checkbox. Let's call it 'Phone Opt Out'. Set the default
 value to checked.
 The second is a text field. Let's call it 'TestField'. Set the default
 value to 'DefValue'

 Create a Lead record.
 Convert Lead record.

 You will find that 'Phone Opt Out' is unchecked and that 'TestField' is
 empty.

 The issue also occurs in records converted from Leads in Organization and
 Opportunities modules.

 I've replicated this issue in demo.vtiger.com
