 During enabling portal to customer, email will be communicated for
 registered portal email-id and same will be used as user-name for portal
 log-in. Further update of email-id will only be used for communication
 purpose.

 Did you added the new file provided in change-set for your source?
 modules/Contacts/actions/SaveAjax.php
