 Our observation:

 The name provided custom fields are used for (fieldname and fieldlabel) of
 vtiger_field table. Renaming fieldname was causing issues, as during
 migration we depend on it for some operation.

 Just for renaming the custom field on the UI the work-around of updating
 module language file works.
