 Steps to reproduce

 1)Go to "My Preferences" page.

 2)Click the email link and you will see the internal compose window opens.

 3)Now edit and save the email field using "Ajax edit link". Then if you
 click the email link, the mailto function is called and the default
 compose page will be opened instead of internal compose window
