 in the past the link could be used to call the external mailclient. Since
 the improvements in the vtiger mailclient, it now always calls the
 internal client. I know many users that have a company mail agent and want
 to use this for all mails.
 I suggest having a flag in config.inc.php to enable/disable the link to an
 external email client. I could add this code for you if like.
