#757: Update to new adodb-4.81 release
------------------------+---------------------------------------------------
Reporter: jeffk | Owner: developer
Type: defect | Status: reopened
Priority: minor | Milestone: 5.0.0
Component: vtigercrm | Version: 5.0.0
Resolution: | Keywords: adodb database package
------------------------+---------------------------------------------------
Comment (by jeffk):
I mostly-agree on omitting [5751] from source:vtigercrm/branches/4.2.4.
Reservations:
- vtigercrm-4.2.4 is likely to be the first widely distro-packaged
version, and will have many new users
- without the change vtigercrm-4.2.4 won't work on adodb-4.81, which
people may want during its lifetime, unless...
- vtigercrm-4.2.5 is released very soon after. In this case, an upgrade
mechanism will be necessary very soon.
vtigercrm-4.2.5 and later versions have to address the schema difference
in a migration feature, is that practical? I remember a manual script
being written the night before old vtiger 'GA' releases. I'm almost afraid
to ask what our automated upgrade mechanism looks like. Can open, worms
everywhere.
I like the idea of merging [5751] to source:vtigercrm/trunk ASAP. I would
suggest letting vtiger team finish their workday (next 6-8 hours), then
merging it for testing by users of source:vtigercrm/branches/4.2 and
source:vtigercrm/trunk over the weekend. I'll leave it up to you to issue
the merge to trunk when you're ready. Here's the command to use, in a
working copy of source:vtigercrm/trunk:
svn merge -r 5750:5751
http://allanbush@vtiger.fosslabs.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/branches/4.2
After that I'll merge adodb-4.81 to trunk again, with:
svn merge -r 5741:5742
http://jeffk@vtiger.fosslabs.com/svn/vtiger/vtigercrm/branches/4.2
